About Us

The BC Yukon Society of Transition Houses (BCYSTH) is a non-profit association of transition houses, safe homes, second stage houses, and other groups which serve the needs of abused women and their children.

We began in 1978 with 6 members, became incorporated as a society in 1984, and now represent 67 Transition Houses, 15 Safe Homes, 12 Second Stage Programs and 93 CWWA programs. The work engaged in by our members is the provision of refuge and support to abused women and their children, Our mandate of preventing violence against women and their children is fulfilled through the public education, advocacy, training and other forms of direct support to our member organizations. Linking our services with those of our members ensures that abused women and children receive the support they need regardless of where they live in our province.

Our Mission

BC Yukon Society of Transition Houses will become a centre of excellence enhancing the continuum of services and strategies necessary to end violence against women and children.
